Josh Spoerri

Josh has more than 30 years’ experience building and running private equity investment platforms in Europe.

Before co-founding Torpen Capital, he was a Managing Director at private equity firm OpCapita, specialising in retail and consumer investments, where he led the investment team, oversaw the portfolio and served on the boards of a number of portfolio companies including BUT, NKD, La Sirena and Game Iberia.

Earlier, he was a founding member and Managing Director of BA Capital Partners Europe. He began his career at Continental Bank / Bank of America in Chicago.

Josh holds a BA in Political Science (cum laude) from Denison University where he serves as a Trustee.

Chris McDermott

Partner

Chris has more than 25 years’ experience in principal investing, corporate finance advisory and interim management, focused on retail and consumer businesses in Europe and North America.

At Torpen, he advises on strategic and operational initiatives across the portfolio and sits on the boards of Maurices and Rossopomodoro.

Before Torpen, Chris was a Managing Director at OpCapita and a director of portfolio companies including The Football Pools and AppelrathCüpper. He also held interim executive roles at portfolio companies, most recently as SVP Merchandise Planning & Allocation at Maurices.

Earlier, he worked in UK M&A at Lehman Brothers in London and started his career as a systems engineer at Nortel Networks in Canada.

Chris holds an MBA from London Business School and a BSc (Eng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada.

He is a CFA charterholder and speaks German and French.
